“On this day before Christmas
Our hearts stretch to dark, remote places
Where that darkness seeps into the soft spaces of the heart.

On this day before Christmas
Our minds harken back to that particular day
When the angels advertised heaven’s hope for humankind.

On this day before Christmas
Our cries go up and go beyond to tell our friend
That darkness must give way to the light of Christ’s day.”
Pastor John L.

This poem/prayer was shared with our church members to remember and lift up our friend, Pastor Andrew Brunson, who’s been in captivity for nearly three months in Turkey, without cause, for his ministry of faith of more than 20 years.

And as we lift up Pastor Andrew for his release from prison in Turkey, may we continue to to remember a nation and a people in bondage. May their hearts not succumb to the “darkness that seeps into the soft spaces of the heart.” May the “hope for humanity” be ever gently present in the hands and feet of those who live and work near and in the land of NK. May the day be near when the “darkness must give way to the light of Christ’s day” in the land of NK.

Merry Christmas to you all !
